The scene opens with a conversation between Mr. Wolf and his "sweet lover" . He tells her to sit down just as he told her to, but she refuses to do so, saying she does not like coffee. She tells him that she is not seducing him, and he tells her that the woman who works for him is there to serve him coffee, and that she happened to be there when he ordered the coffee. If she makes any more trouble, he says, he will call the police.
