The chapter opens with a description of how the wolf's love interest monopolized the business of the company. He says that he doesn't think his name was once "a dignity" , but that it has nothing to do with him. He tells the story of how Su's family got into debt, and how Su would have been able to pay back the debt if it weren't for Su. He also says that Su owes her brother Weiyi his life, because she owed him hers. He asks his brother if he can help him take care of his sister, and he says that living well is his only wish. He calls on his brother, but he does not answer.
