The play opens with a conversation between Milady and Hiroyuki. Milady tells Hiroyuki that she is afraid that he is not picking up on what she is saying. She tells him that she wants to save money so that she can move into Hiroyuki's apartment. She says that she once took her friend's dictionary with her and dropped it on the floor. She still doesn't believe that Hiroyuki feels the same way about her as she does. She asks him to take her for a meal, but he says that it is all hiss. He tells her that the two of them have started to date happily and that now is the time for them to make progress. He says that he wishes he could kill her, but that he can only make her taste the poisoned apple. He warns her that there is only one way for her to get away from Hiroyuki, and that is to divorce him.
