This chapter opens with a conversation between Lin and Run. Lin tells Run that his attitude toward Luo is different from the way he treats others. He compares the two of them to "two old friends" and says that their personalities do not match. Lin says that he and Luo are "old friends" because they have quarreled, but he adds that he has known Luo for "a very long time" and that he is surprised to see him again. Lin asks who Run's father is, and Run replies that Run is his daughter. He says that Run wants to protect her, but that he will accept it only if he knows the real reason for his kindness. The next scene shows that Run has arrived at the hospital. Tan yunchang is shocked to see Run running toward the bed. He turns to look at Lin and says, "who knew" . Lin keeps staring at Run even though he is holding her hand. He uses another hand to hold her hand, and his eyelids droop lazily.
