About This Chapter
In this short scene, Agamemnon and his men discuss the state of affairs at the battle of Atropatene. They have lost the battle, but not yet defeated the enemy. They are still waiting for reinforcements from the king of Persia, who has sent a messenger to tell them that the enemy has retreated to the city of Ecbatana. The king's highness makes him a great warrior, and he defends the fortress of peshawar with his men. He also tells them that kharlan betrayed the crown prince and forced them to execute him. He adds that the death of the warrior, Garshasph, was an honorable one. The lusitanian army has been slow to respond to the attack, and they have not attacked their rear either. They do not show any signs of moving, and mount dema Vant has not heard from him for some time.
