The next morning at work, the men are drunk and gelgar is trying to get them to stop drinking. He tells them that he has stopped drinking because his doctor has told him that if he does not stop, his illness will not be cured. He says that he is not paying for anyone who drinks more than he does, and that he will let them buy him drinks whenever they want. He is so excited that he cannot believe that anyone has bought him drinks in a long time. He asks if he is being paid for his work, and the men say that they will be paid for the work he has done.
