In this short scene, we are introduced to a young man who has never been on a horse before. He is riding a horse, and he is very excited to meet the rider, who is a member of a survey corps. The young man, who introduces himself as "charette" , tells the rider that the rider's horse is named "mikasa," which means "woman." The rider, however, is not pleased with the name, and tells the young man that he will have to change his name to "bertolt" .
