The next morning, Petra is wearing a dress she bought the day before, and she wonders how everyone will react to it. The Captain is also dressed up, and he asks her what she is wearing. She replies that she is dressed for a trip to the town, and the Captain says that he would like to go, too, but that he has business to attend to in town. He asks her to pick him some tea leaves, and Petra says that she would, since it would save her from going to town. She asks the Captain if he would mind picking her up some chicks, but the Captain replies that he does not want to go because it would be too easy to be hit on. He then asks Petra if she wants to go to town with him, but she says she would rather stay in town and chat with the Captain. She then notices that the Captain is wearing the same dress that she lent him the other day, and asks him if it looks half as good as it does. He says that it does, and that the rain is starting to come down hard. She worries that her dress will get wet, but he says that his jacket did not get wet at all. She thanks him for the clothes, and then asks if they were the clothes he lent her the previous day
