The narrator arrives in the countryside, where he finds a poor student with a poor grade. He tells the student that there are many different kinds of fertilizer that can be used to grow flowers, and that they are all very rich in phosphorus. The student is horrified by the amount of fertilizer in the jar, and the narrator tells him that it is a very good fertilizer.
