About This Chapter
When Kate finds out that the doll is actually a gold statue, she is horrified. She thinks that gold is good for spending, and that it can also be used to crush people. She wonders why they didn't report the murder to the police. Kate says that they are more afraid of being mistaken for criminals than monsters. They searched the mansion for the remains of the dead client, but no one was found. Kate wonders why the client did not mention that he could perform alchemy on the doll on the phone. She says that it was only after the greedy detectives arrived that they realized the doll was producing gold. The detectives wanted to kill the client because he was greedy for gold, but the order was wrong. If the gold came from the doll, then the client must have been greedy for it as well. The doll could have eaten the dead man's body and turned the gold into gold.
