In this chapter, the voice of godel is introduced. He is a university student who works as a parttimer at a ghost detective agency. He complains about the strange things that happen to him every day in the city. He waits for the final episode of "phantom girl c" to air. He wonders why he had to take a test today to pass the test. He also complains about how long it took him to wait for the "final episode" of the show. He laments the fact that he has to wait so long to see the end of the story. He compares the setting to the setting of the movie phantom girl c in which a girl moves into the house of a relative to find it is haunted. The electric wire seems to be vibrating, and he wonders if there is a girl living there. He tells Kate that he will burn down the haunted house if she does not pay back the money he loaned her. Kate tells him that he is buying a box with millions of diamonds, but he tells her that all he has now is a debt. He says he will bet all of his assets on horse racing if he wants to pay off the loan. He then tells Kate about a man who claimed to have the ability to manipulate ghosts. He killed a neighbor in a "mad frenzy" and claimed that he could do the same to his own ghosts. Kate says that this man is the real owner of the house. She tells him to open the door to the house so that she can talk to the ghost.
