In this chapter, Kate, a young woman who works in a haunted house, tells the story of Dr. Robbie, a robotics engineer who went missing from his laboratory. Kate explains that the city of Kejune is famous for its "sea coconut" emblem, which is associated with a new disease called "schismosclerosis" . Kate also tells the audience that she is a "born actor" and that she has just met the client of the haunted house. Kate tells the client that her father was attacked by a robot, which broke his nose and left him with a "blue, square, head with fangs". Kate also reveals that her older brother was also attacked by the robot, and that his nose was also broken. Kate says that she feels like she is getting "absorbed by the robots" , which she refers to the death of her brother bosch and her brother's miser. Kate goes to the basement and finds bloodstains on the floor of one of the research rooms. She wonders why the robot is hanging there.
