The captain of the South City Investigation Team returns to his apartment, where he finds two boxes of cigarettes that he bought from the director of a new brand of cigarettes. He tells the captain to take them back, since they are too expensive. The captain says that someone gave him one of the boxes, but the man mistook it for an ordinary pack of cigarettes and gave it to the "gatekeeper of the community." The captain tells the man to give the cigarettes to him since he doesn't smoke. He says that he gave the other three packs to the Director of Forensic Medicine. He asks the captain if the director made him quit smoking, and the captain tells him that it is hard for people to quit because they can't focus all that much on one thing. He also says that if he still had his parents, he wouldn't come to the morgue at night to scare people. He then thinks about a funny story about a man who lost a lot of money.
