Back at the hotel, Little Em'ly tells the captain that he's not going to stay at his house any longer. He doesn't want to be a burden on the captain, who's been kind enough to let him stay in his house for free. He's worried that if the captain continues to stay there, he won't be able to find a way to earn his money back. The captain tells him that he can borrow a few books from his bookshelf, but he'll have to come back to the hotel to borrow the next book when he gets back. He gives the captain a big surprise: he has a new book to borrow.
