In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character named "Jeff" . We learn that he works for a fast-food restaurant in New York City and that he is a member of the Brotherhood of Black Men. He is a self-described "foodie" , meaning he eats a lot of fast food, but he is also very strict with his diet. He orders a double cheeseburger, but the restaurant does not have any cheese or lettuce on the menu. When he tries to order a triple cheeseburger, however, the restaurant refuses to serve him any of the items he ordered. He complains about the food and the restaurant's lack of food service. The manager tries to calm him down by telling him that the restaurant is trying its best to serve his customers quickly and efficiently. He then tells him that his order was incorrect and that there is nothing he can do to correct it. He apologizes for the confusion and says that he will try to get the food out of the restaurant as quickly as possible. He tells the manager that the woman who threw the burger at him was using "condescending language" and that she should not have thrown the food at him. He asks the manager to run the food through the restaurant so that everyone can have a good meal. He gives the manager a tip and thanks him for his hard work. He also thanks the manager for handling lunch hour "madness like nothin' . " The manager then tells the customer that the order is a takeout order. The customer is surprised to learn that it is a double-burger.
