The chapter opens with a flashback to the events of the previous chapter, in which the gang was robbed. The narrator tells the gang that they were robbed because they were playing drinking games. The gang is shocked to learn that the narrator is a member of the same gang as they were. They are also shocked because the narrator has sold his jacket to one of the gang members. The other gang members are shocked to see the narrator selling his jacket back to them. They do not believe him, but the narrator tells them that he is a good person.
