The narrator returns home to find Haylee taking care of her pet rabbit. She tells him that she's going to stay the night at her brother's house, but that she wants to sleep in the guest room instead. Haylee says that her brother doesn't like sleeping with her, so she'll have to stay with her brother. The narrator tries to convince Haylee to stay in her room, but she can't bring herself to do so. She's afraid to go back to her room at night. She tries to make Haylee feel welcome by wearing her boyfriend's shirt, but Haylee won't let her. She says that she and her brother are already in love, but he's still away from her.
