In this chapter, we learn that the young woman is shopping for a dress for a party at her parents' house. When she gets there, she finds out that the man she's shopping for has invited her to dance with him. She's not sure how to react to the scent of the man's perfume on her, so she asks the maid to teach her how to dance. The maid tells her that her parents have had a car accident, so they've been stuck in traffic for a while. The young woman tells her to contact her parents and ask them to get the pastry chef to come and make the cakes for her. She also tells the maid that she'll pay her back for the dress she bought from the man.
