In this chapter, zhong tells his mother that he has seen zhong play basketball for the first time. He tells her that zhong is so smart that he is able to play with dudes and not find a date. He also tells her about his first day at work, when he sees lin breaking through in the defense. . He reminds his father that he was born for basketball and that it is not the time for him to give up. He says that he will convince his father to let him go to the minor league. He goes on to say that the young people have learned how to play and that he cannot watch his friend "fall" from the top of the basketball pyramid. He concludes by saying that he still plans to ask his father for a recommendation letter once he returns home.
