He tells the cat that he has to move out of the building by this week, and that if things between them get weird again, he will have to learn to knock on the door. When the cat asks if he has been living with his family for the past few years, the man says he has not, but that he recently adopted a kitten. The kitten is still "pretty distant right now," the cat says, but he hopes that she will soon get attached to him. That night, the kitten asks the cat to come with him to the train station.
