It's strange, the narrator says, that he doesn't feel evil spirits but "yang energy" . He's not sure what's going on, but he does know that the boss of the construction site is stingy and lets his workers wear tattered clothes. The boss almost spat on the narrator, and the narrator thinks that maybe the workers were all beaten. The narrator feels a "force spreading" , which makes him think that something is wrong with the people around him. He wants to run away, but the narrator knows that he can't, so he tells the ghost guards to stay away from him. The ghost guards, he tells them, are the only ones who can stop him.
