In this chapter, we learn that the transfigurators are still trying to figure out what's going on. They're still using women to help them, but they don't seem to be doing anything to stop it. The old man asks if they'd like to go to the ghost-catching association to see if they can figure out the source of the evil spirits' power fluctuations. The two of them agree to go, but the old man wants to know if they want to go investigate the matter himself. He's not sure if he'll be able to do so, but he's willing to go anyway. He wants to be a part of the team. He used to be respected by everyone, but no one would team up with him for ghost-hunting tasks. Now he wants to join the team, because he can shrink himself even more. He thinks that if they form a five-member team, he can still be useful as a support. He also thinks that they can use him as a token to see the evil spirit's source of power.
