The scene opens with a soliloquy by Slam. He tells us that he's leaving Shanghai and that he won't be returning anytime soon. He apologizes for his behavior and promises to forgive him anytime he says so. Slam says he'll never leave Shanghai again. He's not going to let anyone get in the way of him and his family.
