About This Chapter
Captain Strong is sitting in on Laurent's class at the university, and he's worried about what's going on in the courtroom. He wants to know why the court hasn't left the case for another team. He's also worried that Laurent is trying to bait the court into letting him do what he wants. Captain Strong points out that it's a dangerous game to force a man to face his hatred, but he also knows that he can overcome it. He tells Captain Strong that he'll leave it to him to decide what to do with Laurent. He also tells him to keep Laurent on a tight leash so that the court doesn't have to pay for an agent acting on his own whims. He says that's good to hear, because it means that he has his approval to see the case through. He then asks if Captain Strong will be fully responsible for the torment that Viola sustained today. He asks if Viola would have been better off if she had come on the scene. He replies that she would have had to come on a lot more often, and that agents do it all the time. He adds that he won't repeat the experience of Viola's torment any time soon, and asks Captain Strong to tell him that he didn't let Viola choose. He thinks that Captain Strong should tell him what planet he comes from, and then he can tell him why he feels the way he does.
