About This Chapter
The scene opens with a conversation between the creator of the "rainbow crown" and the man who works for him. The creator asks the man if he has earned any money from the sale of his paintings. The man replies that he has, and the creator asks him what the price is for him to redeem himself. He says that he was sold at 500 thousand and that he can offer more if he wants to. He also says that if the creator does not earn the money he promised, he will still be his forever. If the creator fails to earn the promised money, his soul will be taken to purgatory and his body will decay into carrion, but the creator promises that he will keep his promise and will return in time. He then tells the man that the next night on the street, the man thanked him for giving him a ride. The guitar on which the creator plays is called "unicorn" because it has only one string. He explains that the guitar is named for the view from which he can view the city from his room. The boss tells him that he investigated the creator on the web and found out that he is "burning lotus." The boss says that burning lotus is not the only alias of the creator. There is another one that is "money collector." The man asks the creator what happened in the car accident. The narrator says that it was a trick of "quan qing" to escape.
