Back in the present, Ren tells his mom that he found her son 18 years ago. He tells her that he wishes he had never given birth to him because no one wants a child to be "encumbered" by a child. He also tells Ren that he is sure that the boy has gone missing in the last few days. Ren says that he will take the boy back to the place where he found him, and ask the neighbors there if they know of Ren's whereabouts. Ren tells the boy that it is time to relieve himself of the burden of caring for him. Ren asks the boy if he would like to stay with him from now on. The boy says yes, even though he knows that he would regret it. Ren apologizes for making the boy cry so many times, but he still invites the boy to live with him.
