In this chapter, we're told that good intentions don't always lead to good results. For example, good intentions may lead to a task being completed, but not to a person being saved. In this case, the task is to save the life of a friend. In other words, it's a good idea to do something, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it'll be done well. The good intentions of a good friend can sometimes lead to bad results, for example, when the good friend is killed by the bad intentions of the evil one. The evil one is the one who has the bad luck of bringing about the death of a loved one. This is the case with Lucio. Lucio's sister died of an infectious disease, and her husband was killed on the frontier by Lucio because Lucio was a wizard. So Lucio is responsible for the deaths of his sister and his wife, and he's also responsible for Lucio being burned to death in the fire. So, Lucio blames Lucio for all of his misfortunes, and says that Lucio will thank him for saving his life. But Lucio isn't so sure. He's sure Lucio wants to die with the wizard, but he'll die on the same day Lucio died.
