About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn more about Marie's condition. She's still in a coma, and she's very upset. She doesn't know what's going on, but she knows that she'll soon die. Marie is so upset, in fact, that she wants to die. She wishes that she could see and hear her father, who's in the cave with her. Marie can't even hear him, because he's selling her energy in exchange for information. The other spirit that Marie can sense is the turtle, and he can still hear her, even though she can barely hear him. The turtle sells his energy for information, and Marie can hear him only because she can''t communicate with him. Marie wants to know if the turtle can help her, and the turtle says that he can, but he'll have to lock up the turtle before he can do so. Marie says that they need more information about the turtles, and that her friend has been kidnapped by a group of spirits. The twins have been a "blank page" in the world of the spirits, and they've never been able to communicate with any of the other spirits, so they're surprised that the spirits look human. Marie asks if the stone will help her in any way, but the turtles say that it'll only help her if it's her lucky charm. They're going to get her more and more of the stone, so she won't have to take off her red wristband. The turtles also say that they have an idea: they want the stone to be their lucky charm, because they love her so much.
