About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that there are reports that several people have died in the fire, and that the police have been urging people to stay in their homes. The narrator is worried that he will die before he can save his friends. He tells the narrator that he has a heart condition that makes it hard for him to breathe, and he tells him to stop worrying. He also tells him that he feels thunder and that he came after him to warn him. He asks the narrator why he needs all this stuff, and the narrator says that he does not need it, because the building has power and will continue to be a place for people to come and stay. He says that the universe is out to get him, and it looks like he is in a fix. He wants to know where they are going to get the power to light the building, and when he asks, he is told that it will be easy for Enno to light it up. He adds that Enno has managed to patch his broken body up with his energy, so he will be able to do it easily. He then asks if the narrator wants him to waste his precious energy on the old Christmas lights, which are really humiliating to him. When the narrator asks if Enno can hear him, he says he can, and they have to get out of the building together. They have to go back to the back way, where they can watch each other. He feels that he was wrong about her, and if that does not pull at his heart, he dies for a useless
