About This Chapter
When the ghost of Tomalma appears, the monster is shocked to find that he has been transformed into a new human being. He asks the ghost why he has sacrificed himself for him, and the ghost replies that he sacrificed himself because he wanted to stop the monster from dissolving. The monster asks if the new man is the same man who killed him. The ghost says that he is, because he is a new man reborn. He says that the monster's plan is to capture and take back the soul of the dead man, but that they fear that the boy will die, so they sacrificed themselves. The new man, however, is much larger than the old man, so the monster fears that he will be able to control him. When the monster realizes that the new tomalma is stronger than he was before, he asks why he is being abducted. The old man says that it is because of the spiritual energy of the spirit that he was so weak before. When he hears this, he realizes that he cannot be with the ghost any longer. He wonders what the spirit wants with him.
