In this chapter, Isabella tells Lockwood that she cannot believe what she has just read. Lockwood admits that he had a hunch that the barber was involved in the kidnapping, but Isabella says that he is probably the only person in the country who could have pulled off such a thing. She also says that many people hire the barber, who is known to run on apprenticeship. She says that she is willing to do whatever she can to get her niece back, even if it means going to the barber himself. Lockwood says that if the barber can find her, he will repay him. He adds that if she is found, they will be on his side.
