In this chapter, we learn that Isabella is pregnant with her second child. We learn that the baby will be named Lily, and that she will be a ward of the law. Isabella asks her father and the barber if they will be willing to watch Lily while she is being trained to be a police officer. The two men agree, and Isabella thanks them for their help. She says that she is sorry to put them both through this, but that she cannot do better for them.
