In this short scene, we catch up with a young man named Yulan, who's just returned from a trip to China. He's on his way back to the U.S. from China, where he's been spending time with his family and friends. Yulan tells us that he has just finished a review of his work and found that his recent shows are "perfunctory" . He also tells Yulan that he'll remove his livestream from the site next week, since his recent performances aren't up to snuff. The young man, however, doesn't seem to mind. He just wants to know how Yulan's life has changed. He knows that Yulan used to be "self-absorbed" and "dowdy" , and that she got "bad luck" in love. Now, he says, she's become the boss of his life, and he wishes he could go back to school and become a teacher. He can't believe how much Yulan and Yulan have changed since he left school, and how much they've grown up since then. He thinks Yulan is still a "clown" and that he should just hide and go to school instead. He wants to punch Yulan if he says one more thank you, but Yulan refuses to do so. He says that he hasn't met Yulan in a long time and that his classmates don't care much about his face. He wonders why Yulan has to compete with his idol, whom he calls "xuemi," and how he can possibly compete with her when she sings so well. He decides to take back what he deserves.
