About This Chapter
This chapter opens with a flashback to the beginning of the school year, when Ryusuke asks Tsumae to listen to him as a listening-house girl. The flashback shows that Ruchika and his aunt, Mami, are in love with each other, and Mami is jealous of the boy's affections for her aunt. She tells the boy that she has feelings for him, but that she will not be able to have a girl friend during his friend-off days because she does not have friends. She also tells him that he should be careful not to dress up as a girl when he is away from her, as that will make her look like a prostitute. She then tells him about her childhood friendship with the boy, whom she calls "a child hood friend" . The two of them used to play together in the yard of their father's house, where they used to put up a basketball court. When they were young, the boy was very passionate about basketball, and this made Mami like basketball too. She wants him to be successful in basketball and to become a manager, so she will give up on the boy. She asks if there is anything she can do to help, and the captain of the basketball team is still not available. Mami asks if she can go with her to practice defense, and she tells her that the class is over, so the team is not allowed to practice anymore. Mami laughs and says that the rumors about the boy were true, and that the other members will be annoyed. Mami says that she meant what she said and that she is not going to give up because she likes him, after all. Mami thanks him for his help, saying that she had a feeling that he would help her open up to other people.
