In this chapter, Harumichi tells his friends that he will not talk to them again. He says he will be by their side until he sees for himself that he cannot see them. He tells them that he is digging himself deeper into his studies. He wonders if they will stop talking to him if he does not get over his moping. He asks them to get back to studying so that he can see for himself. He thinks they are good at math, science, and so on, but he says he cannot keep up with them if he doesn't stop moping and working harder. He feels that he has been wrong about them all, and that they are handsome, too, and here he gives them the tickets to the amusement park. He is sorry that they have dropped their tickets, but says he is ready to do it now. He talks about how he is getting to be friends with them, and how he wants to go to school someday. He mentions that he found a dream that he would like to be a part of someday, and he asks them not to spend all their time with shinobu. He wants them to have something to look forward to when they find new treasures, so that they can say "happy birthday" to each other.
