The next morning, Dr. Rivers finds himself in the middle of a conversation with his wife, who is trying to get him to go to sleep. She is worried that he is going to get drunk again, so she tries to calm him down by reminding him that he should be careful on his way back to the office because he is drunk. He says that he will be coming back later that night because he was so drunk that he nearly fell asleep on the walk home. She asks him to get her a fresh towel, but he says that there are no fresh towels in his usual cup board.
