About This Chapter
The goddess tells the young serpent that she did not expect him to sympathize with her. She tells him that her husband is not evil, and that he will never hurt anyone. The goddess also tells the serpent that there is a realm in which the god exists, and she must decide whether or not to believe what she has just said. She swears by the name of the god that everything she has said is true. The young serpent exclaims that he has completed the work assigned to him by his father in law. He tells her that his father has been very sullen lately, and he must be worried about her. He says that he is a calm and strong steward and that this is the "greeting ceremony of life." The goddess says that she has not seen such an omen in a long time. She says that the red color on the tree is a sign that the gods have imprisoned the sea gods in the "gods' forbidden land" . She asks that they be safe while she is away, and they will come back together as soon as possible
