In this chapter, we learn that the evil phoenix fire isn't really evil at all. It's just that the gods of the underworld have begun their evil scheme to punish us for our sins. In other words, they're trying to get us to fall into the depths of lust. This is the first time we've heard of the idea of the "gods of sin" trying to punish people for their sins. It sounds like a lot of fun, but we're not sure how it's going to work out.
