In this chapter, we learn that the school hired a detective to investigate the "serial homicide" at the school. The detective tells the school's principal that he wants to know why the students treat each other so poorly. The principal says that he's protecting the school by not sending the five suspects to the police. He also says that if they don't cooperate, the school will go on strike and disclose the information to the public and the internet. The school has installed anti-theft nets in the hallways and in the dorm rooms, and the students will have to stay in these rooms for the duration of the investigation. They'll be under constant surveillance, and they'll have to keep track of each other's movements.
