The next night, the narrator wakes up to find that his brother is covered in blood. He asks why his sister is afraid of him, and the narrator tells him that it's because she's afraid of the color of his blood. The narrator tells his brother that he should stay with him for a while longer, because happiness is the same thing as unhappiness, joy and tears are the same things as grief, and strength and weakness are different things.
