About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a flashback to the night of the big explosion. It's now fifteen years later, and we're back in the vampire's camp. We learn that the vampire has been transformed into a human, and that he's been living with the vampire for fifteen years. The two have been hiding out in different parts of the world, and now they're in the middle of a mission. They're eating pancakes and drinking human bloodlust to remind themselves that they are still human, even though they've turned into vampires. The vampire and the vampire-turned-human argue about where they'll live, and then the vampire explains that the agency sent him to the academy because it's where he lost his heart. The academy reminds him of the place where his heart was broken, and if he refuses, the agency will stop giving him the blood-suppressors. He's impressed that the two of them haven't made any progress in the fifteen years since they first met, and he wonders if the vampire is waiting for him to get over his broken heart. He wonders if there will be cherry blossoms blooming at the academy's white-capped academy, which reminds him so much of the one he lost. The sun rises, and the sun symbolizes hope, while the sunset symbolizes the end of everything. So the two men head out on their new mission.
