In this chapter, we learn that the higher a person's intelligence is, the harder it is for him or her to control his or her emotions. For example, if a person has a higher IQ than a person with a lower IQ, it is much more difficult to control one's emotions. In other words, if you have a high IQ, you're more likely to be able to control your emotions. This means that if you want your grandpa to live a long time, you should put down your sword and kill him. But if you don't want him to live long, then you should ignore him and just kill him with your sword. That's it, says the monster. He's a "merciful killer" and he won't hurt his "bargaining chip" . But he's not sure if he'll be influenced by the monster's words and actions. So, he tells the old man to stop threatening him and to put down his sword. The old man says, "I'm a merciless killer" , and the monster tells him not to be rash. He says that he is kind of a "hot-tempered guy" and that he doesn't know if he will be swayed by his words or actions. The monster says that if he wants his grandpa to die, then he should just step back and let him go.
