About This Chapter
In this chapter, Guinevere tells his son-in-law that he is a mere puppet of the Catholic Church and that his brother, Gaspard, is still alive. He also tells him that his sister, Clotenilde, has been executed for witchcraft. The two men agree that it is a good thing that Gaspard's head is still in the hands of the Pope, since he owes it to his sister to live. They also agree that the Pope's followers are looking for the head of Gaspard and that they deserve to taste the victory they have just won.
