This chapter opens with a soliloquy in which the protagonist explains that he is in love with his co-worker, whom he describes as a "rival cornered me with love" . The protagonist then goes on to say that he has decided to take the protagonist away from his "rival" since the protagonist has been so close to her lately. He tells the protagonist that the protagonist's "collect ed attitude" is "cool" , but the protagonist is "swaggering" because he is "thinking about komari." The protagonist tells him that he needs a doctor, and the protagonist says that he might be right. He says that everyone has left, and that he can finally "go home," but that it might be something else. He asks the protagonist if it is chocolate, and she says that it is. He then tells her that he loves her only in the name "thigashima," and she exclaims that she loves him only in "so pompous" a name that has "a memorable name."
