In this short scene, we are introduced to the protagonist and his lover, who are both in love with one another. The protagonist's lover is a young man who has just returned from a trip to the Galapagos Islands. He tells the protagonist that he has arrived safely, and that he will be arriving shortly. He asks the protagonist if he is feeling well, and the protagonist replies that he is. He then tells the young man that his body is burning, and he feels dizzy and faint. The young man, however, is determined to go home, and when the protagonist asks him what is wrong, the protagonist tells him that he wants to carry him to the train station. When the protagonist arrives at the station, he finds that the train has already left, so he goes to his room on the other side of the building to wait for the next train.
