The next day, the two men discuss how they're going to get back at the other. They're not going to be able to do it without the other's help, so they'll have to figure out a way to get out of each others' grasps. The two men decide that the only way to do that is for the other to forgive them for what they've done to each other the day before. If they don't forgive each other, then they can't expect each other to do anything for them in the future.
