It's time for the headmaster to meet the young men. He's been living in the city of Hendeladiah for a long time, so he's used to being asked questions about his past. The young men, lark and dagny, are eager to go with him, but the headmaster says that they're too old to go. He also says that he'd rather die than see the creatures that would use his lineage to evolve from his ancestors a million years from now. Geez, that's a little creepy. The headmaster tells them that Damien has accused him of releasing a "banshee" from the university. Damien isn't a student, but he is the "muse of untimely death" . The two young men get out of the headmaster's office, and he tells them to ignore Damien.
