About This Chapter
In this chapter, Win tells us that he's kept a journal since he was eight years old, and that he has something important to tell us now. He says that he thinks he might have a "secret talent" sending him something, but he doesn't know what it is. He tells us why they brought Dagny to his graduation, and he says that she was "stuck" in school. He also says that his high school was "bad enough" and that his community college was "sucks." He says he never owned a "real" camera, but "plugged plop" when he saw the man on the beach. He feels "concentrated" by his presence, yet he feels "disappointed" by the man's presence. "The underlying sense," he says, was that something is terribly wrong, a "desperation," a "silent cry for help" . He's seeing it as "dark and foggy" , and there's no one there to help him. "Nobody just walked in the ocean full clothed," he tells us. "Whoa ! . . relax !" . "What guy ! he walked out in his clothes?" . Yup, it's the same guy he saw at the beach, he says. "It never occurred
