This chapter opens with a flashback to a time when Celia was a child and her grandmother taught her how to apply the "ear-photons" to her face. Celia tells her grandmother that if she applied the "right way" , her swelling would go down faster. She then feeds Celia several eggs and tells her that if her master finds out about it, he will know that it was her idea and she will be okay. Celia is shocked that Celia did not kill Alix. She thinks that Celia is trying to use Celia's message to lure the enemy out of her base and then through Alix found out about Bard Hill's news. Celia says that there is a secret place in the south where the people can gather and that Bard Hill should be there. She plans to go there and confirm the information.
