In this chapter, Desdemona tells her father that she wants to marry him when she grows up. She tells him that her stepmother, Bess, has not had enough food to eat for a while, and that she will not be able to walk if she does not eat. He tells her that she is a promise, and she tells him to keep her secret. She says that she loves him all her life, and he tells her to tell her mother that he will marry her when she is old and he has to marry her. He says that when he is old, he will have to find a wife for him. He then tells her two secrets, one, that Cara is alive, and the other, that he took her out of the city so that he could give her heart back. When they arrive at the brighton, they find that they are 30 miles outside of town.
